A porcelain bean dosing cup designed to elevate your coffee making experience.
The act of making coffee is a ritual that should be celebrated – an opportunity to disconnect, just for a few minutes.
Over the course of a typical week, I might make 4 cups of coffee a day, weighing and dosing 14g each time – that’s over 1400 cups a year!
I began to realise the importance of every link in the chain. Whilst it wasn’t a particular pain point to dose the beans, it was a process I was repeating multiple times a day. Making coffee is a ritual that helps me to disconnect, so surely every step along that journey should be as good as it can possibly be? A chain is only as strong as its weakest link after all.
I set out to create a dosing tray that fulfilled the following criteria:
Enable easy dosing of beans (without beans bouncing out!)
Enable RDT workflows (including those that like to shake their beans post RDT)
Enable enjoyable interaction of picking up
Enable easy pouring into either electrical grinders or handheld grinder
Look the part (people care about their setups – I want to create something that takes pride of place within your setup)
Be long-lasting (be produced from materials that promote longevity)
Loop will be made 100% in-house by my own hands right here in Aberdeen, Scotland from porcelain. Being hands on is important in ensuring total quality control.

Coffee beans begin to lose their flavour once it’s ground, which is why it’s generally accepted that grinding whole beans fresh is best.
With the rise of single dose grinders and hand grinders, more and more people are grinding fresh beans for every cup of coffee. The best way to ensure reliability with each cup is to weigh your beans and whilst most single dose grinders come with bean dosing cups to collect the grounds, they are a pain to pour beans into and most grinders suggest not to cold start them… meaning you can’t use the dosing cup to collect the grounds and measure the beans.
